Why do we include kids in the Life Group meetings?
Yes, we are well aware that kids complicate our gatherings, but there are several reasons why we include children in our life group communities and encourage parents to bring them:
- Children are valuable members of the body of Christ
- We believe we as the church have separated out our kids too often, so that life is neat and clean for us...but can stunt the growth of the kids and the adults to be seprated.
- Kids are “Hard-Wired to Connect” as was found by a Scientific Study conducted by the Commission on Children at Risk. The study included doctors, research scientists, mental health and youth service professionals from Harvard, Dartmouth, the YMCA and the Institute for American Values. Their main finding was that the crises, disorder and dysfunction that threaten our youth today all point to one cause and therefore one need. Children today are no longer part of authoritative communities...we’ve separated them out...and so what they’re hard-wired to need and contribute to is no longer available.
